One Step Closer

For a while last night it didn’t look like it was going to happen, but in the end the Diamondbacks manged to keep on track for 50 wins in one run games for the season. Manager Bob Melvin admitted he was worried; "At the bottom of the 7th we were 8 runs up and it looked like we had blown our chances, but thankfully Slough_bus_station_berkshire the bullpen came through and gave up 6 runs.It was then down to Jose Valverde to give up one run and complete the save, which he did brilliantly." Asked if he thought the 50 win target was realistic Melvin was thoughtful "It’s going to be difficult" he said "but we just have to take one game at a time, the important thing is to not let things like media pressure or a pennant race get in the way of what we are really hoping to achieve."

Incidentally, it has come to my attention through Matt over at Diamondhacks that some of you may be unsure how to pronounce the word Slough, and whilst my first reaction was to weep at the level of education in the Colonies I realize that I should not judge and have thus added a useful link so that you can research this "Jewel of the Shires of England" for yourselves. But as to the pronunciation, it very much rhymes with "WOW".

You say you’re in Slough, but after reading wiki, the village incorporations and such, are you sure you aren’t just in Upton?
